Read that again.
Sharks showed up about 400 million years ago. Trees? 350 million years ago.
Sharks were swimming around for 50 million years before a single tree existed.
They're also older than the North Star, Saturn's rings, dinosaurs, and grass.
They've survived all five mass extinctions, including the asteroid that wiped out the dinosaurs.
And some Greenland sharks alive today are over 400 years old — born before Shakespeare.
Trees get all the credit for being ancient.
Sharks were here first.
