Two of the four cats that lived in the white house were strays, whereas the other two moved in with the Lincolns...their names were Tabby and Dixie.

He once fed Tabby from the table at a formal White House Dinner.

During an interview, he was quoted saying, "Dixie is smarter than my whole Cabinet", referring to his cat of course.
